A Look at Fruit Salsa

There is that natural tanginess in fruits that makes them perfect for salsa recipes. A fruit and vegetable salsa make a perfect side dish. Mango and Pineapple are just examples of fruits than can add that zest in salsas.

A Pineapple salsa is a nice side dish for chicken, pork or fish recipes. This can also be served over the meats.

For this salsa, you will need:

  • 1 cup finely chopped fresh pineapple
  • 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
  • 1 cup corn kernels
  • 1 15-ounce can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup chopped onions
  • 2 green chili peppers, chopped
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • salt and pepper to taste

Mix together in a large bowl all the ingredients, making sure that everything is mixed well. Sprinkle with cumin, salt and pepper according to your taste. Cover the bowl. Let the salsa chill in the refrigerator before serving.

Another fruit salsa variation and is commonly preferred on the table is one made with mangoes. Even if this recipe is simple and has few ingredients, one is assured of bursting flavors in the mouth. It is both spicy and sweet and is best served with chicken or pork. It can even be served with just tortilla chips. The color of this salsa makes it a perfect match with multicolored chips.

This recipe will require:

  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled, seeded, and chopped
  • 1 8-ounce can pineapple tidbits, drained
  • 1 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
  • 2 tablespoons peeled and finely chopped fresh ginger
  • 1/2 cup chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste

The ingredients simply need to be mixed together in a large bowl. Cover the bowl. Let the salsa chill in the refrigerator before serving.
