Bake Sale Top Seller and Recipes

We were involved in our very first bake sale we were amazed with our results! We sold out of everything!

Would you like to know the top sellers! They were Pumpkin Spice Bread, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, Snickerdoodles, Banana bread and Brownies.

Why were we successful:

  • We set out small samples for people to taste our product.
  • We made everything fresh the day before.
  • Display is key use a festive tablecloth in our case we use a Christmas theme
  • Packaged up in food safe bags.
  • Package Cookies in lots of 6 per bag and a few bags of 3 per bag.
  • Have recipes on hand to show if someone should ask “what’s in this?”
  • Sell whole loafs and half loafs.
  • Ask everyone to try a sample.
  • Have your prices displayed.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup margarine or butter(softened)
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 cups uncooked oatmeal, old fashion
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Directions:

– Preheat oven to 375 degrees F(190 degrees C).

– In large bowl beat together butter, eggs, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla.

– Now add flour, baking soda and salt blend together.

– Stir in oatmeal and chocolate chips until well mixed.

– Drop by teaspoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet.

– Bake 9 to 12 minutes or until the cookies are just set.

***Do Not Over Bake***

Yields: 60 cookies

Cook Time: 9 to 12 minutes

Snickerdoodles

Ingredients:

  • 2 3/4 all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine(softened)
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tarter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Place in small bowl:
  • 3 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:

– Preheat Oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Combine eggs, shortening and butter then add the 1 1/2 sugar, cream of tarter, baking soda, vanilla and salt and mix. Then mix in flour.

– In a separate small bowl mix together 3 tablespoons of sugar and the 2 teaspoons of cinnamon.

– Make into 1 inch balls and roll into cinnamon & sugar mixture.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet then flatten the 1 inch balls with a bottom of a glass.

– Bake for 8 – 10 minutes until edges start to turn golden or for chewy cookie bake until set about 8 minutes.

Yields: 5 dozen
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 8 to 10 minutes

Fresh Sweet Potato Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups sifted all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup mashed sweet potato
  • 1 cup nut(pecans or walnuts optional)
  • 1/2 cup raisins

Directions:

Preheat Oven to 325 F.

Grease only the bottom of a standard bread pan.

Stir together all dry ingredients in large mixing bowl. Then stir in wet ingredients and then the nuts and raisins.
Pour into prepared pan.

Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Makes 8-10 servings

Easy Banana Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 bananas, mashed
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)

Lightly grease an 8 x 4 inch loaf pan.

Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl until mix well together.

Pour into the prepared pan and bake for about 60 minute, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of loaf comes out clean.

Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes before removing.

Yields: 15
