Home Remedies for Fever Blisters, Easy and Simple Natural Cure

Fever blister or even known as cold sores are caused by herpes simplex virus 1. These are basically red blisters which appear on the outer edges of the mouth and on the lips. These blisters are filled with fluid which form scabs after few days and later form crusts which signal the end of this infection. Although there is no cure but there are certain home remedies for fever blisters which can alleviate the symptoms caused by it. Basically the symptoms of fever blisters can be itching, burning sensation, enlargement of lymph nodes and fever.

When there is this burning, itching or tingling sensation one can rub juice of aloe plant on the affected area or even can use aloe gel. This will stop the growth of sore and the healing process will start immediately. One of the easiest home remedies for fever blisters is to rub ice cube on the sore every hour for ten minutes this will result in preventing the movement of virus to the skin.

Cold tea bags can be applied on blisters which give a soothing effect. Or one can even try applying tea tree oil directly on the blisters. Common salt can also be used to treat the blisters, just press the common salt on the sore by the means of your moistened index finger for almost a minute twice a day. Continue this routine for 2 to 3 days.

Drinking Sage tea with dash of powdered ginger also helps in treating cold sores. To prevent cracking and bleeding of blisters you can apply Vaseline, it will soften and moisturize the blisters. You can even apply cornstarch paste to the affected area or can use the extract of lemon balm which will speed up the healing process and reduce the symptoms.

Cotton ball saturated with white vinegar can be dabbed on the affected area to reduce the swelling and get relief from the pain. Since honey is known for its antifungal, antibiotic and antiviral properties, it is one of the effective home remedies for fever blisters. It can be used to assist the healing process by directly applying it on the fever blisters.

Avoid eating salty and acidic foods and foods rich in arginine such as nuts, peanuts, chocolates, oatmeal, peas, seeds, grains and wheat products. Cut down the intake of coffee. These were some of the home remedies for fever blisters which can be tried at home easily.
