When starting off on your own whether you are young and going out in the world for the first time, or just got married, there are certain things in your home that you should have on hand to make your home life function smoothly. One of these items is sheet sets. How many should you have? You can get away with having one set but in the ideal world, you should have three sets. One for the bed, one set in the wash, and the other in the linen closet.
I like to use white sheets as it goes with any color, easy to clean with a little soap and bleach. But it is also nice to have a variety of colors too, that way you can change up the whole look of your room quite quickly.
The thread count of the sheet really is a personal preference but I have found that a good quality cotton sheet tends to promote a better sleep. A rule of thumb: the higher the thread count, the softer the sheets. I tend to lean towards Egyptian cotton sheets as I find they last longer than other cotton sheets but they are much more expensive so keep that in mind. If you can afford to get the higher thread count, you definitely won’t regret it. If you are on a tight budget you may one to purchase at least one Egyptian cotton sheet set and the others a lower thread count.
And one last note: don’t forget to get the proper sheet size, many people get lost when it comes to the variety of sheet sizes.
King size is 76″x80″
California King is 72″ x 84″
Queen is 60″ x 80″
Double (Full) is 54X 75″
Twin is 39″ x 75″
Twin XL is 39″ x 80″
So next time you are in the neighborhood for sheets, consider buying the three sets. 🙂
