How to Simplify Life

How to Simplify Life

This article was inspired by a number of life lesson’s I’ve gained over the years. Whilst people close to me were struggling with these concepts, I put them to practice in my daily life with meaningful results.

The key to living an inspired life filled with happiness is to simplify it. That’s right – simplify life in order to gain clarity on what is important to you. The more clutter and NOISE in your life, the less capable you become to determine what is important to you.

Personally, I consider the following of key importance to me: health, relationships, family and living my purpose. If it doesn’t fall into one of those categories or ‘rock my boat,’ I let it go out of my life. That which brings you the most joy and happiness are things which require the least amount of effort.

This is nature’s law known as the Law of Least Effort. The premise is nature operates according to this law. If we are part of nature, it stands to reason that we apply the same principle in our lives to make this law work for us.

Here are some principles I trust you’ll find worthwhile. Begin applying them gradually. Don’t be discouraged if you see little or no results initially. It takes time, patience and persistence for something of value to yield. Much like a plant growing, the initial stages begin with the seed sprouting from beneath the soil – much of which is invisible to the naked eye.

1. Surround Yourself with Great People

Great people are friends, family, co-workers or those who provide support and encouragement. Great people understand you and allow you to be who you are whilst encouraging your personal growth. They are there for you in times of need.

Great people allow you to feel inspired and invigorated; not drained of energy. These people are known as grave diggers. They rob and sap you of your vital force energy.

I notice such people these days as they stand out from the crowd. They’re continually looking to gain something from you and reluctant to give back. Steer clear away from them as they deprive you of your long term happiness and ability to simplify life.

2. Let Go of Things Which No Longer Serve You

Letting go of things which no longer serves you reminds us that in order to simplify life, we need to be willing to eliminate those things which absorb our energy.

They might include; people, things, meetings, relationships, travel, behaviors or habits. If they no longer bring you joy, remove them from your life. The key is not to replace it with anything else.

Create a space for something wonderful to show up and trust that it will fill the void. Nature abhors a vacuum. Have faith when you make progress to remove things of least or no importance, something better is ready to take its place.

3. Material Objects Don’t Provide Happiness; Experiences Do

Perhaps its society’s fault or mainstream media that we’ve been sold the lie that happiness comes from having objects – nice car, home, clothes, holiday house etc. Sure, temporarily it does. This so called happiness may last days, months or even years.

Newspapers are filled with stories about people inheriting millions to find themselves MORE miserable than before. This is not due to money, rather the problems associated with the money.

The accumulation of material objects amplifies insecurities already present. Having more will not provide for your happiness; it will only give you more reasons to be unhappy.

Focus on experiences – such as surrounding yourself with friends and loved ones who honor you. Travel more; perform random acts of kindness, do some charity work if that appeals to you. The idea is to find experiences which are fulfilling and rewarding.

I enjoy anything that has a creative pursuit. It brings out my inner genius and I feel alive when creating. I enjoy exercise since it allows me to move my body as nature intended. I feel connected with my mind and body and have more energy to do things which I enjoy. Riding my bike near the water is another preferred past time as well as regularly having dinner with loved ones.

4. Be in Tune with Your Nature

Being in tune with your nature offers the advice to remain connected to your source. You are NATURE. Stay connected to this source and you will feel the aliveness and pure energy of the universe cultivate itself through you.

So how do you stay in tune with your nature? Here are some steps to consider:

  • Be kind and generous to yourself and others
  • Think positive and empowering thoughts
  • Live a healthy life
  • Eat nutritious, organic food
  • Focus on giving and receiving; energy, money, words, ideas
  • Create fulfilling relationships
  • Be involved in your community
  • Tend to your environment by respecting mother nature
  • Help others get what they want and you’ll get more of what you need
  • Be at peace with yourself and your place in the world
  • Think globally; yet act locally

We are on the precipice of a creating a new way of life for all mankind. This new way of living unites spirit and matter as we become more conscious creators of our destinies. The old paradigm is collapsing under the old guard, in order to make way for the new.

These changes are heralding a new way of seeing the world as never before. Be willing to change. Be willing to let go of the old and obsolete in order to usher in a new way of viewing life. Remove your preconceived ideas as to how life should play out. It is these ideas which keep you trapped in the past; unwilling to navigate your way ahead.

The time is now. Living this way brings immense joy and satisfaction. You realize that ultimately humans require very little to sustain happiness. The basic essentials guarantee our needs will be continually met.

Mother Nature is far more intelligent than we give her credit for. She has provided us with INNER resources to meet our needs, yet we selfishly strive for EXTERNAL desires believing we’ll be happier – it seldom works that way.

Make a vow to simplify your daily life. Reduce your impact on the environment by cutting back on waste and non-renewable resources. Live a clean, healthy and uncluttered existence. Your reward is a sensible life lined with pure simplicity.
