Basic Lemonade Recipe

During the summer, fruit beverages are an important part of your diet.  Not only are they refreshing, but they provide minerals, vitamins and because of the sugar used to sweeten them, it provides a high fuel value.

Lemonade, a summertime favorite, is one of the easiest to make.  Inexpensive and refreshing you will become a master of the lemon with these simple homemade recipes.

Basic lemonade recipe:

1/2 cup of lemon juice (4 - 6  lemons)

1/2 cup of sugar

3 1/2 cups of water

Pour into glass with ice and serve.

Add some frozen berries, slices of lemon or a sprig of mint for an added touch of flavor.

Limeade

Limeade is made the same way as lemonade, using limes instead of lemons, and a little more sweetening. This is even more refreshing than lemonade in summer.

Orangeade

4 oranges and 1 lemon (approx 1/2 cup of juice)

1/2 - 2/3 cup of sugar

3 1/2 cups of water

Serve with orange wedges and mint.

How ever you slice it, these refreshingly simple lemonade recipes are sure to quench your families thirst all through the hot summer months.. Cheers!
