It shouldn’t be a surprise that coconut oil is becoming more and more popular and widely used in skincare products. One of the reasons for this is that it’s rich in essential fatty and amino acids that moisturize skin and regulate cell function.
Essential fatty acids maintain the integrity of cellular skin walls and enable the transference of waste and water, a function that is important for skin health and a clear acne free complexion.
Maintaining healthy cell membranes through the regular topical application of essential fatty acid rich oils and serums, means plump moist hydrated cells. Not enough essential fatty acids means dehydrated and potentially dull saggy skin and congested pores which can lead to acne breakouts.
This is where Coconut oil can help by effectively dissolving fatty deposits and build up that causes blackheads and acne. By eliminating congestion in pores and enabling the flow of sebum in your skin, it helps to break the acne cycle.

Antibacterial enzymes, minerals and proteins are also present in coconut oil and coconut milk which fight acne very efficiently. Applying coconut oil directly to your skin or with other ingredients as an acne wash is an easy way to calm and neutralize active breakouts.
You can enhance the potency of coconut oil as an acne wash by adding honey, another naturally antibacterial ingredient. Turmeric spice is another antibacterial natural additive as are essential oils. Both of these oils are naturally antibacterial although Tea tree is the most potent for this purpose. Lavender oil is also very soothing so compliments other acne treatment ingredients perfectly as an all around acne wash.
Other effective ingredients are yogurt, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, baking soda, neem oil or colloidal silver.
You can make an easy face wash at home with quarter of a cup of coconut oil, 3 drops of Tea tree oil and 3 drops of Lavender oil. If you don’t have essential oils available, use half a teaspoon of turmeric powder with a little crushed parsley or basil and lemon juice.
You can also make an acne serum moisturizer with the coconut lavender and tea tree combination. Add to this a tablespoon of almond oil for a healing serum. To make a lotion you can add water and beeswax for an acne moisturizer.
