Wheat allergies in children occur when a child’s immune system responds to the protein contents of wheat. Wheat allergies usually grow when the human is a baby or toddler (3 to 5 years). Albumin, globulin, gliadin and gluten are classes of protein in wheat that can cause an allergic response. Most allergic reactions involve albumin and globulin. Allergy to gliadin and gluten are less common. Gluten allergy is often confused with Celiac disease or some other digestive disorders.
Symptoms of wheat allergy in child

- Inflammation of the airways
- Abdominal pain and cramping
- Nausea or stomach upset
Treatment of wheat allergy in children:
- Avoid oats, barley and rye which contain gluten. Children afflicted with wheat allergy have greater chances of having similar reactions when they resort to gluten products as well.
- Avoid soups, gravies and sauces that contain wheat for thickening purposes.
- Refrain from beer or root beers that contain wheat products too.
