How to Prevent Hair Loss and Breakage with Carrot Seed Oil
Carrots are a healthy root vegetable rich in vitamins, copper, manganese, potassium, beta-carotenes and biotin, one of the vitamins essential for healthy hair growth. Additionally, the other nutrients help guard against split ends, moisturize dry scalp, enhance shiny hair, strengthen hair from the roots and promote healthy cell growth. It also has a high natural SPF, which protects hair from the suns UV rays.
The benefits of carrots can be enjoyed in one or more of the following ways:
- Consuming raw, steamed or baked carrots.
- Juicing carrots or including the juice in a smoothie.
- Adding them as the main ingredient in dishes such as carrot cakes, candied carrots or carrot soup.
- Adding pure carrot seed oil in hair treatments.
There are also several products on the market, which contain carrot oil but the best way to utilize oil is in the pure form. However, you can still give these products a try to see if they can work for your hair.
How to Condition Hair with Carrot Oil
Heat up about 1/2 cup of carrot oil in a bowl then apply it to the length of clean hair with a focus on the ends. Really smooth it through. Apply a moisturizing conditioner on top of this, again focusing on the ends. Cover with a shower cap afterwards and sit under a dryer or steamer for 45 minutes then rinse out the hair thoroughly and style as usual. This treatment should leave your hair feeling soft and moisturized.
How to Strengthen Hair with Carrot Oil
This treatment should be applied to clean hair. Heat up about 1/2 cup of carrot oil, part hair in sections and apply the oil directly to your scalp, taking care not to burn your scalp. Once your whole head is covered, begin massaging your scalp in firm circular motions for up to 15 minutes ensuring the oil is completely absorbed into your scalp. Cover with a shower cap and sit under a steamer for up to an hour. Rinse out thoroughly and style as usual. You can also use it as midweek scalp massage oil. Over time, expect stronger and damage resistant hair.
Bonus Treatment for Skin
Carrot oil can also be used to protect the skin against UV rays and acts as a natural treatment to improve elasticity and revitalize and rejuvenate the skin. You can apply lightly to your face before putting on make up or all over your body before indulging in outdoor activities.

You’re welcome! Carrot seed oil is a great natural remedy for preventing hair loss and breakage. It is rich in vitamins A and E, which promote hair growth and strengthen the hair shaft.
Here are some tips on how to use carrot seed oil to prevent hair loss and breakage:
1. Mix a few drops of carrot seed oil with a carrier oil like coconut or jojoba oil. Massage this mixture onto your scalp and through your hair, paying extra attention to the roots and ends. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes or overnight for maximum benefits, then shampoo and condition as usual.
2. You can also add a few drops of carrot seed oil to your regular shampoo or conditioner. This will help nourish your hair while cleansing or conditioning it.
3. Make a DIY hair mask by mixing carrot seed oil with ingredients like yogurt, honey, or avocado. Apply this mask to your hair and scalp, leave it on for 30-60 minutes, then wash it out thoroughly.
4. Use carrot seed oil as a leave-in treatment. After washing and conditioning your hair, apply a few drops of carrot seed oil to the ends of your hair to moisturize and protect against breakage.
Remember to patch test carrot seed oil before using it to ensure you’re not allergic to it. Consistency is key, so try to incorporate these treatments into your hair care routine regularly for best results. Good luck!
