5 Herbal Remedies That Treat Eye Disorders and Diseases

Five natural herbal remedies from Balkans that treat eye disorders and diseases of the eye lids (blepharitis), stye, diseases of the lacrimal canal, conjunctivitis (pink eye), tachoma.

Diseases of The Eye Lids (blepharitis):

  • 30g flowers of Chamomile
  • 30g leaves and flowers of Yarrow (Achillea millefolium L)
  • 20g flowers of Elderberry (Sambucus spp)

Herbs really chop and blend. In 1 liter of boiled water put into a mixture of 5g of herbs and cook covered. Several times a day with lukewarm tea soak and mop eyelids, and in the evening, before the rest, put a compress on the eyes. After steeping and mopping with lukewarm tea, spread the eyelids with Kantarion oil.

Stye

Soak cotton compress in homemade brandy and put on closed eyelids. Compress hold approximately 1 hour and then put a single compress of cotton cloth soaked in olive oil. This compress hold it longer, and the best overnight. On the morning after you wake up, rinse eyelids with lukewarm tea of chamomile flowers. This tea is prepared so that the 5g chamomile is flooded with 1/2liter of boiled water; cover the tea and let cool.

Diseases of The Lacrimal Canal

Vaporize the eyes of a strong and lukewarm tea from a mixture of equal amounts of yarrow and chamomile.

The procedure is done in the morning and evening for 25 minutes. During evaporation lightly rub around the temples and eyelids with a soaked cloth. When the tea is cold, soak the eyelids. After that the root of the nose and eyelids lightly grease with lukewarm olive oil, a head wrap with warm towel and sleep until morning. Stay in a warm room. Avoid sudden changes in heat. Room temperature should be between 20 and 25 Celsius. During treatment you should drink a light tea mixture of equal amounts of wild mint leaves and thyme stems. Sweeten tea honey and drink lukewarm.

Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)

composition of tea:

  • 20 g Eyebright (Euphrasiae herba)
  • 20 g oak leaves
  • 10 g Oak bark
  • 10 g root of marshmallow (Althaea officinalis)
  • 10 g wild marshmallow

Chop and mix the herbs. On 5g mixture of herbs pour 1 liter of boiled water and cooled lid. When the tea has become lukewarm, filter it through a double gauze. Rinse the eyes with lukewarm tea and put the lining of cotton soaked with tea. Lining them on the closed eyelids and hold it for a long time. Cook the same herbs and drink a light tea lukewarm, sweetened with honey and to 6 times a day for 1 dl at regular intervals.

Trachoma

  • 20 g leaves of male juniper
  • 20 g leaves of thyme (Thymus vulgaris L)
  • 20 g flowers of yarrow (Achillea millefolium L)
  • 20 g plant horsetail (Equiseti herba)
  • 20 gr stem of Montain germander (Teucrii Montana herba)

Chop and mix the herbs. On 10g mixture of herbs pour 1 liter of boiled water and cooled lid. When the tea has become cold, filter it through a double gauze. Rinse the eyes with tea in morning and evening. Cook the same herbs and drink a light tea lukewarm, sweetened with honey and to 6 times a day for 1 dl at regular intervals.
