Heavenly Sweet Potato Pie Recipe

Sweet Potato Pie


  • (1) 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 2 cups mashed cooked sweet potatoes (about 2-3 medium-sized sweet potatoes)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Whipped cream (optional)


1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Prick the sweet potatoes with a fork and bake them until soft, about 45-50 minutes. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly.

3. Once the sweet potatoes are cool enough to handle, peel them and mash them well in a bowl using a fork or a potato masher. Measure out 2 cups of mashed sweet potatoes and set aside.

4. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, eggs, milk, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt until smooth.

5. Add the mashed sweet potatoes to the mixture and stir well to combine.

6. Pour the mixture into the prepared pie crust.

7. Bake the pie for 35-40 minutes or until the filling is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

8. Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack.

9. Serve with whipped cream if desired.
