Americans love peanut butter! It’s hard to find a house in the United States that doesn’t have a stock of PB. This addictive ingredient is used in a lot of recipes starting from the humble peanut-butter sandwich to delicious desserts. PB tastes best when it’s fresh and homemade. Here’s a recipe to make PB at home; just try it out and satisfy your PB cravings.
Let’s first get the roasted nuts ready. For this, you’ll need –
- Virginia peanuts or Valencia peanuts in-shell: 2 lbs
- Peanut oil: 2 tbsp
- Coarse salt: 1-2 tbsp
Here’s how I make it –
Preheat your oven till it reaches 350o F.
Clean the p-nuts by washing in cold water. Dry them with a tissue and keep them in a bowl. Add salt and peanut oil and mix well till all the peanuts are coated.
Lay out these p-nuts on two half sheet pans; the nuts should be spread in such a way that they don’t pile up. Keep in the oven and let them roast for 15 to 20 minutes; then turn the pans around and allow roasting for 15 minutes more.
Take them out of the oven and let then cool. The p-nuts will get crispy now. If you rub the peanuts in your hands, you’ll see the skin fall separately. Skin all peanuts this way and dust off the skin particles from the peanuts.
Now that you have your roasted p-nuts ready, let’s see how to make peanut butter.
To make peanut butter you’ll need –
