How to Make an Easy Coffee Body Scrub at Home!

Do-it-yourself beauty is absolutely the best, and there is nothing more satisfying than being able to create a custom beauty product from ingredients that you may have within your own kitchen! Coffee itself has a variety of beauty benefits, so if you want to make the most of your homemade beauty remedy, it is advised to use coffee as an ingredient.

One of the main reasons that coffee can be used as a beauty ingredient is because it provides a wealth of antioxidants. If you are hoping to topically treat your skin, it is always advised to use antioxidant ingredients because they will penetrate into your facial cells to neutralize free radicals damage. Free radical damage comes from a variety of outside sources, like pollution, sun exposure, and smoking. One of the main benefits to using coffee in a topical skincare product is because it will protect the cells in your face from premature aging and wrinkling.

That being said, here is an easy recipe to use to create a coffee body scrub home remedy that you can use to treat your skin and prevent wrinkling!

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 tbsp. Essential oil
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 2 cups Coffee grounds

Start out by mixing all three of these ingredients together in a large bowl. This will be the base for your coffee body scrub. You can leave it as is, or you can add other ingredients to truly treat your skin. Consider adding cinnamon to give a nice scent to your scrub, brown sugar to provide a coarser texture to exfoliate, vanilla extract for a sweeter scent, or other perfume oils to create a scent blend. This is an opportunity for you to get creative in making your own custom coffee body scrub.

It is very important to be mindful of any skin care ingredients that you may be allergic to so that you do not irritate your skin. If you do have sensitive skin, you also will need to be very careful in using perfume oils. These oils smell refreshing, but if you do have sensitive skin, then you can substitute the essential oil within the recipe for a massage oil. It is very important to keep your skin protected, especially if you have the potential to break out or become irritated.

One last reason that it is so beneficial to use coffee in a beauty product is because it has caffeine in it. Caffeine works as a vasodilator, so it will tighten the surface of the skin to reduce cellulite and make your skin firmer. If you have noticed, many beauty products on the market use coffee as an anti-cellulite ingredient because it instantly firms and refreshes skin. This is an amazing benefit that you can get from an ingredient that you can find within your kitchen cabinet, and keep in mind that coffee has a variety of health and beauty benefits so it is the perfect choice for a home beauty remedy!

Editor’s Note:

Use fine grind coffee…anything else is just too coarse and makes it uncomfortable and rough to use. I used the coffee grinds “after” I made a pot of coffee so I got a cup of coffee and a scrub out of it. 🙂
