How to Freeze Spaghetti Squash
Do you have a bountiful harvest of spaghetti squash from your garden? Don’t let the extra go to waste! Here’s a simple guide on how to freeze spaghetti squash to enjoy it all winter long.

Step-by-Step Freezing Guide
Prep the Squash:
Carefully slice the spaghetti squash in half lengthwise. The outer rind is quite tough, so use caution when cutting to avoid injury.
Once cut, scoop out the seeds and pulpy flesh. You can set the seeds aside to roast (just like pumpkin seeds) or save them for planting in your garden next year.
Cook the Squash:
Preheat your oven to (or ).
Place the cut halves onto a baking sheet with the cut sides facing up.
Bake for 30 minutes or until the flesh is tender when pierced with a fork.
Shred and Cool:
Once cooked, allow the squash to cool completely.
Use a fork to shred the flesh into the characteristic spaghetti-like strands.
Package and Freeze:
Place the shredded spaghetti squash into plastic freezer bags in your desired portion sizes.
Label each bag with the contents (Spaghetti Squash) and the date.
Remove as much excess air as possible from the bag before sealing to prevent freezer burn.
Frozen spaghetti squash will maintain its quality for 6–8 months in the freezer.

Im going to try this tonight. I have to go out of town so I need to cook this baby tonight but there is no one to eat it but me!
Ill freeze the leftovers let them thaw slowly before reheating it.
Im topping with a creamy sauce (also from my freezer) as I cant eat tomatoes.
That sounds like a great plan! Freezing spaghetti squash is a convenient way to have a delicious meal waiting for you when you come back from your trip. Thawing it slowly will help maintain its texture and taste. Topping it with a creamy sauce sounds like a tasty alternative to the traditional tomato-based sauce. Enjoy your meal and have a safe trip!
