Cheap Homemade Beauty Tips
There are times when we cannot afford expensive cosmetics. This is exactly the period I had in my life! Working two jobs, but spending a lot of money on paying the rent and food I found myself in such situation when I have money till the end of the month enough only for food. So I searched the web, to found out some cheap beauty tips. I was surprised how many useful are there. Check this out:
1. Take Care of Your Hair
A cheap way to boost the shine of dark hair is to rinse it with diluted vinegar. Blonde hair benefits from lemon juice. Both act by sealing down the outer cuticles of the hair, helping your hair reflect the light more effectively.
2. Use Natural Scrubs
Swap commercial face scrubs for a handful of oatmeal massaged directly onto your skin – it works really well. Mix together dry oatmeal and water until its pasty then spread it on your face. Lie down and relax until the paste dries then wash it off completely with warm water. It works wonders and will be the cheapest facial you’ve ever had.
Sunbathing on the beach use the sand to scrub your body specifically in the cellulite areas. Though it sounds strange, it does help a lot! I was scared to try it first. But now I constantly use this tip.
3. Save on Cosmetics
- Turn lipstick into lip gloss with a coat of lip balm after applying colour.
- Stand a dried-up mascara in a glass of warm water to bring it back to life.
- Eye shadow doubles up as eyeliner, if applied with a cotton bud (swab). Dampen the end of the bud (swab) first for a more dramatic effect.
- A drop of olive oil rubbed nightly into your nails will help them grow long and strong and is cheaper than shop-bought manicure oils.
- Make powder eye shadows last longer and stay crease-free by dusting eyelids with translucent powder first. It’ll absorb the oils from your skin, and keep your make-up looking fresh.
- To dry nail polish in a hurry, spray nails with PAM Oil Spray.
- Toner/Astringent—Use witch hazel instead. No need to dilute—use full strength. You can also rinse with a splash of Apple Cider Vinegar after cleansing—it balances out the ph of your skin.
- Add a few drops of your favorite eau de toilette to some olive oil, and use as a scented bath oil as a cheap treat. Olive oil can also be added to bath water for a skin softener.
4. Whiten Your Own Teeth
Instead of going to the dentist and paying an arm and a leg to have your teeth whitened stop by your local Walmart or Walgreens. There are numerous at home whitening kits available for a decent price.
5. If Acne is Your Problem
If you are used to purchasing expense brand name acne treatment stop right now. When a pimple appears apply toothpaste before bed, when you wake up and rinse your face you’ll notice the pimple drying out.
Searching for the tips I found a great book by makeup artist Shalini Vadhera “Passport to Beauty” who shared the world beauty tips and the secrets of women. She learned many tips from other women as she traveled. Below are a few tips that are listed in further detail in her book.
Brazil:
These golden women are known to be some of the most beautiful women of the world. Want to know a couple of there secrets? How about this one? They use common beach sand to remove cellulite and dead skin from their bodies? They just pick up a handful and begin rubbing. Some companies are beginning to incorporate this same sand into their soaps. Speaking of skin, you know the women of Brazil are known for their rich, deep tans. Know how they keep their tans? Before they go out to sunbathe, they are known to drink carrot juice. They also drink beet juice on a regular basis to help intensify their skin. Just remember too much sun can be dangerous.
Japan:
Japanese Geisha girls are known for their flawless skin. One reason is that many love Camellia Nut Oil. Seems this oil is great for many skin conditions: dark spots, stretch marks, dry cuticles and can be used as a moisturizer. It can be found at local herbal shops.
China:
Here in the US we love Green Tea. China, on the other hand, uses a lot of White Tea for many different products. Some of cosmetic lines are coming out with lines with white tea incorporated within them. Seems the white tea also has many different antioxidants in them, plus they are beneficial to help keep one from aging.
Spain:
Women from Spain are known for their rich dark hair. Seems some of this hair color comes from cranberry juice. Women here are known to use cranberry juice as a final rinse. They mix 1/4 cup of cranberry juice and 1/4 cup of water and rinse. But if you are blonde, do not use cranberry juice, try lemon juice instead.
India:
Women here are also known for their thick, shiny hair. They love coconut oil. If you want thicker, shinier, or stronger hair, try a scalp massage with Coconut oil. Warm the oil in water and massage it onto the scalp of your head, leave on overnight and then rinse. Do this once a week. It also helps strengthen thinning hair.
Australia:
Women here love tea tree oil. It gives their skin a youthful glow. It can help many skin damage problems: sun, acne, dryness, and even some skin fungus. Just add a few drops to your normal cleanser or moisturizer. If you have dandruff you can add a few drops to your shampoo, to help stop the flakes, too.
