Violet Days Bubble Bath

–Makes enough for several baths.

Ingredients:

  • 1 quart (4 cups) distilled water
  • 1 (8 ounce) bar castille soap (grated or flaked), you can also use 2 cup unscented shampoo as an alternative to the castille soap.
  • 2 ounces of any of these oils or combined oils: coconut oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, or argan oil.
  • 2 ounce liquid glycerin
  • 4 drops violet essential oil (you can also use lavender, rose, chamomile, or jasmine. They are known for their relaxing and aromatic properties)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of natural colorant (beetroot powder or butterfly pea flower powder) (Optional) (These ingredients will not only provide a pleasing visual appeal but also offer additional benefits for your skin)
  • 1 tablespoon liquid soapnut extract or liquid yucca root extract (a natural foaming agent that creates more bubbles)

Directions:

  1. In a medium-sized pot, heat the distilled water over medium heat until it reaches a gentle simmer. Do not let it boil.
  2. Once the water is hot, add the grated or flaked castille soap to the pot and stir until it melts completely. If you are using unscented shampoo instead of castille soap, simply pour the shampoo into the pot.
  3. Add the coconut oil, liquid glycerin, liquid soapnut and the natural coloring (if using) to the pot. Stir well until all the ingredients are fully combined and melted together.
  4. Remove the pot from heat and let the mixture cool for about 15-20 minutes.
  5. Once the mixture has cooled slightly, add the 4 drops of violet essential oil to give the bubble bath its lovely scent. Stir well to distribute the fragrance evenly.
  6. Carefully pour the mixture into a glass bottle with a tight-fitting lid. This will help preserve the bubble bath and keep it fresh.
  7. Allow the bubble bath to cool completely before using. It should thicken slightly as it cools, resulting in a lovely creamy texture.

How to Use:

  1. Shake the bottle well before each use to ensure all the ingredients are mixed properly.
  2. Pour a small amount of the bubble bath under running water as you fill your bathtub. The more you pour, the more bubbles you will get.
  3. Swish the water around with your hand to create even more bubbles.
  4. Enjoy a relaxing and fragrant bubble bath soak!

How Often to Use:

The bubble bath can be used as often as desired, depending on your personal preference. However, it is generally recommended to limit bubble baths to a few times a week to prevent excessive drying of the skin.

Shelf Life:

The shelf life of this homemade bubble bath can vary depending on the quality and freshness of the ingredients used. However, if stored properly in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, it should last for about 1-3 months. It is always a good idea to check for any changes in color, smell, or consistency before using the bubble bath and discard if any signs of spoilage are detected.

Always remember to do a patch test before fully incorporating any new ingredient to ensure you don’t have an allergic reaction. Enjoy your personalized and luxurious Violet Days bubble bath!

Note: Castile soap is used to soften and moisturize the skin, its made from 100% Olive Oil. Liquid glycerin another skin moisturizer, is a by-product of soap making.
