Desert Sands Bath Salt Recipe
Ingredients:
- 5 drops yellow food coloring (optional)
- 2 drops red food coloring (optional)
- 4 drops musk essential oil
- 3 drops Jasmine essential oil
- 3 cups Epsom salt (a 2 lb bag will be enough)
- 1 cup baking soda
- 2 teaspoons liquid glycerin (skin moisturizer) (optional)
Directions:
Combine baking soda, Epsom salt and glycerin until well blended, add scents stirring until there is no clumps and just a fine powder. Divide the mixture evenly into 3 separate bowls. In the first bowl add 3 drops yellow food coloring, in the second add 3 drops red food coloring and in the 3rd bowl add 2 drops yellow with 1 drop red food coloring…stir each bowl until the color is well mixed. Allow the air to dry it for a few hours before placing in a bottle. Once dried, layer the colors (if using food coloring)…red first, then orange then lastly yellow in a clean, airtight container for storage. Mason jars or sealed plastic containers work well for this purpose. Make sure to label the container with the name and date of creation for future reference.
Usage instructions:
-
To use the Desert Sands Bath Salt, simply add a desired amount to warm running bathwater. Stir the water to help dissolve the salts and distribute the fragrance.
-
Soak in the bath for at least 20 minutes to allow the Epsom salt and essential oils to work their magic. You can relax, read a book, or listen to music during this time.
-
Rinse off with clean water after bathing, if desired, to remove any remaining salt residue.
Recommended Usage Frequency:
The Desert Sands Bath Salt can be used whenever you feel the need for a relaxing and rejuvenating bath. There are no specific restrictions on usage frequency, but it is generally recommended to use bath salts 1-2 times per week for optimal benefits.
Shelf life:
When stored in an airtight container, the Desert Sands Bath Salt can last for up to 6 months. However, it is advisable to check for any signs of discoloration or odor changes before each use. If the bath salt appears to have deteriorated, it’s best to discard and create a fresh batch.
Note: Not intended for children.
