Ginger Bath Recipe with Zing!
Why spend a fortune on expensive bath products. With a simple bath recipe and a few readily available ingredients, you can be on your way to luxurious, relaxing or invigorating baths for a fraction of the cost. When you create your own bubble bath, bath oil, or bath salts, you have complete control over what goes into your bath or shower and on to your skin. You can select your very favorite fragrance or combination of scents to completely personalize your bath.
Your local pharmacy, craft store and sometimes even your grocery or department store will carry the ingredients you need.
One of the most popular spices for use in the bath is ginger. Ginger has long been heralded for its wonderful healing powers. No doubt you remember having flat ginger ale at some point to soothe an upset stomach, and ginger root can also be brewed into a soothing tea.
Turmeric, which is a member of the ginger family, is acknowledged in natural healing lore as being an excellent anti-inflammatory as well as an anti-oxidant to repair the cell damage of free radicals.
But ginger in the bath is a whole new experience. Here is a simple bath recipe for what I like to call Ginger Zing, because the word ginger in Latin is actually zingiber. Try it and I’m sure you’ll agree.
All you need to do is buy a small piece (about 2 inches) of ginger root from the produce section of your grocery store. Grate it into a small square of cheesecloth. This is also available in the grocery store, usually in the canning section.
Tie the ginger root in cheesecloth square and hang it under the faucet as you run the bath. To give your bath a little extra “zing” you can add two drops of essential oil of ginger. You will probably have to purchase this at a craft or natural food store. Keep in mind that essential oil is very strong and a little goes a very long way.
To gain the most benefit from your bath, be sure to soak for at least twenty minutes.
Ginger is only one of many natural ingredients readily available for creating your own unique bath recipe. Other frequently used herbs include lavender, eucalyptus, sage, wintergreen, mint, lemongrass and many more.
Be sure to try using your other favorite herbs, spices and oils to create your own unique bathing sensations!
