Home Remedy for Teething Babies
Babies going through the teething process are in a growing phase at a time when their bodies need more calcium. The best sources of calcium are through nourishing foods and herbs that can provide essential nutrients for a growing body. A good home remedy to provide calcium for those emerging teeth is an herbal tea. These are safe and gentle herbs, perfect for teething babies.
Mix this blend of herbs and store in a glass jar in your pantry so you can make it when your baby needs it. It has several herbs full of calcium and other minerals your child needs while she is teething. And it is easily digested and assimilated.
For each part, use the same unit of measurement. For example, if you use a tablespoon, then use it as the same measure for each herb in the amounts listed below. You can also use ½ cup or 1 cup measures to store larger amounts of the tea, just be sure to keep it consistent in the recipe.
Teething Tea:
- 3 parts rose hips
- 2 parts lemon balm
- 2 parts lemongrass
- 2 parts oats
- 1 part nettle
- 1 part red raspberry leaf
- ½ part cinnamon
To make the tea, boil 1 cup of water to 1 tablespoon of the herb mixture. Pour the boiling water over the herbs and steep 30-60 minutes. Cover with a bowl or plate to keep the aromatic oils in with the tea.
You can mix the tea with a bit of apple juice for sweetener and let the child sip on it throughout the day. Or dip a cloth in the tea and let them suck on that. You can even dip one end of the cloth in it and freeze it for them to suck on too!
